About the Role
The Planner is responsible for planning all maintenance activities and ensuring maintenance is scheduled on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis in SAP S/4 HANA for all equipment. This position develops annual and long-term work plans using SAP-generated reports to optimize maintenance efficiency by evaluating craft technician capacity, equipment availability, and production schedules—including both scheduled and corrective work orders. The Planner creates new work plans for devices requiring more frequent maintenance, reviews work status weekly, and ensures all completed work orders are marked as finished by month-end. This role supports budget preparation, provides documentation, and participates in strategy development and reviews. The Planner/Scheduler is a DOT-covered position (PHMSA) and receives administrative guidance through the Maintenance organization.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain job plans for inspection, testing, repair, and replacement of equipment.
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and inspection teams to prioritize maintenance work.
- Identify, codify, and update required materials, tools, and services in SAP; ensure spare parts availability for maintenance execution.
- Maintain asset registry and history, including records and certifications.
- Define work methods, activities, resources, materials, and logical sequences to execute maintenance activities.
- Track performance metrics and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all work is executed safely and efficiently.
- Work with interfacing tools to ensure timely completion of regulatory work and records.
- Communicate effectively across various workforce levels, including third-party contractors, working-level teams, and asset leadership.
- Drive reliability improvement initiatives and analyze failure data to share learnings with engineering teams for optimization.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance to optimize calibration, inspection, and testing intervals based on historical data.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, API, ASME, and local regulations.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with audit requirements.
- Prepare and review inspection and certification reports.
- Ensure proper documentation for work orders is in place.
- Coach engineers and technicians on best practices and conduct training sessions on maintenance and safety.
- Develop competency matrices for planning-related roles.
- Explore and implement digital tools for equipment health monitoring.
- Standardize formats and data for capturing equipment details across GPLNG.
Requirements
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED; technical degree or similar is a plus.
- 10 years of relevant work experience.
Skills
- Extensive working knowledge of SAP S/4 HANA.
- Strong experience in planning, scheduling, and execution processes, procedures, and best practices for analyzer and measurement equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of various types of analyzers and measurement equipment in the facility.
- Experience with scheduling software definition and build is a plus.
- Collaborative approach to maintenance activities and performance in conjunction with reliable, sustained operations.
- Experience with project planning software such as MS Project or Primavera P6 is a plus.
- Experience planning small to medium-scale projects.
- Experience with scaffolding, painting, insulation, heavy equipment operation (rigging/lifting), welding, fabrication, machining work estimation, and planning.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working in a PHMSA-regulated pipeline facility preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
- Self-starter with ability to work strategically under minimal direction.
- Focus on meeting or exceeding performance parameters.
