Responsibilities
- Design and maintain dimensional data models that support reporting needs, including star and snowflake structures, fact tables, dimension tables, and slowly changing dimensions.
- Create and enhance semantic layers for reporting and analytics in Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and tabular modeling environments.
- Build calculations, measures, and reusable logic that improve reporting consistency and support trusted business definitions.
- Possess strong knowledge of dimensional modeling concepts, including star schemas, snowflake schemas, fact tables, dimension tables, and slowly changing dimensions.
- Develop relational models using sound database design principles, ensuring appropriate use of keys, entity relationships, and data integrity standards.
- Partner with stakeholders to translate business questions into scalable BI models and actionable analytical solutions.
- Apply data governance practices to improve model quality, consistency, and alignment with enterprise reporting standards.
- Use DAX and Power Query to prepare, model, and optimize data for dashboards, reporting, and self-service analytics.
- Contribute to analytics solutions that connect on-premises data environments with cloud-based platforms such as Fabric, Synapse, Databricks, or similar technologies.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in analytics engineering, business intelligence, or a closely related data-focused role.
- Hands-on expertise with Power BI and business intelligence modeling, including semantic models, tabular models, and advanced reporting logic.
- Proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M) for data transformation and analytical model development.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and at least one cloud analytics platform such as Azure Synapse, Databricks, or a comparable solution.
- Understanding of data governance, master data concepts, and the importance of maintaining consistent business definitions.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. Additional certifications in data warehousing, business intelligence, or related areas are a plus.
