About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Analytical Scientist to focus on the testing and analysis of small molecule formulation development samples and related therapeutic modalities. This 100% on-site role centers on running separation techniques—primarily HPLC/UPLC systems—as well as collecting data, processing results, and troubleshooting analytical instruments.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized testing of analytical samples, including small molecule formulation development samples and other therapeutic modalities.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot separation systems, with a focus on Liquid Chromatography (HPLC / UPLC) and spectroscopic tools.
- Process analytical results and maintain accurate records using Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN), strictly adhering to established methods, protocols, and Good Documentation Practices.
- Execute end-to-end sample tracking and data management in accordance with laboratory best practices.
- Prepare accurate reagents, dilutions, solutions, buffers, and mobile phases for testing workflows.
- Follow all established safety, hygiene, and environmental protocols within the laboratory environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) with 2+ years of relevant experience, OR a Master’s (MS) / Doctorate (PhD) with 1+ year of relevant experience in analytical chemistry or a small molecule testing laboratory setting.
- Hands-on separation experience for small molecules, specifically using Liquid Chromatography (HPLC / UPLC) techniques such as Reverse Phase (RP), Size Exclusion (SEC), Ion Exchange (IEX/AEX/CEX), or Hydrophobic Interaction (HIC).
- Experience utilizing spectroscopic techniques (e.g., UV, Mass Spectrometry).
- Experience with analytical chromatography software such as Empower, ChemStation, or OpenLab.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry experience in a commercial or pharmaceutical testing environment.
- Familiarity with ACD/Labs tools (e.g., LC-SIM) or basic computer coding languages.
Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams).
- Strong expertise in analytical chemistry, proficiency in running and screening samples, meticulous documentation skills, and a proactive approach to instrument troubleshooting.
