About the role
Tetra Tech is seeking a full-time Analytical or Environmental Chemist to join our Duluth, GA office.
Responsibilities
- Support environmental emergency response activities, field investigations (soil, sediment, water, and air sampling)
- Coordinate with analytical laboratories
- Prepare and write technical reports (various formats)
- Manage procurement and oversight of subcontract laboratories
- Work collaboratively with project or program managers
- Interact with Tetra Tech offices nationwide and with subcontractors, stakeholders, and clients
Requirements
- BS/BA in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific discipline
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in data validation of laboratory analytical data
- Experience with EPA and other government guidance and protocols
- Advanced proficiency in data validation up to Stage 4
- Experience with various compendiums of laboratory analytical methods
- Experience conducting data quality assessments and writing reports
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Flexible and able to manage multiple demands
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Training
- Fluency in other languages besides English
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced data validation
- Laboratory analysis, field chemistry, and field sample collection
- Field chemistry activities, including hazard classification/categorization of unknown materials
- Portable x-ray fluorescence analyzers
- Commercially available semi-quantitative field screening methods
- Conducting laboratory operations such as using laboratory balances, preparing calibration standards, and conducting instrument calibrations
