Analyst, Underwriter
About the Role
Underwriting directly helps our company achieve financial and strategic goals. As the financial professionals who identify and calculate risk, underwriters increase revenues, earnings, and membership while protecting the company from loss. This role performs accurate analysis and risk assessment for new business group Medicare Advantage opportunities. Complexity of work increases as technical skills progress. You will work with a mentor/manager to recommend pricing and/or alternatives based on financial analysis, underwriting principles, and business strategy.
Responsibilities
- Utilize basic functionality of underwriting tools, systems, and reference materials to produce accurate new business proposals.
- Apply underwriting guidelines and escalate underwriting exceptions/financial variances for assigned cases to the appropriate level.
- Assist sales personnel in explaining strategy, rate development, and communicating underwriting policy.
- Produce timely and accurate customer-specific documents, deliverables, and case-related information.
- Assist the department with projects or workgroups.
- Identify and support process improvement through automation or process change.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience in underwriting pricing methodologies and funding arrangements.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize analytical and independent thinking skills.
- Demonstrated success prioritizing work and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience providing clear and concise written and verbal communications.
- Experience working with standard Microsoft Office products.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Pay
The typical pay range for this role is $21.10 - $44.99 per hour. This pay range represents the base hourly rate for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors. This position is also eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
