Responsibilities
- Perform classical analysis and finite element analysis (FEA) for tooling and ground support equipment, ensuring integrity and compliance with specifications.
- Document and review stress analyses to facilitate the release of engineering drawings and related technical documentation.
- Mentor tooling designers regarding best practices in stress, stability, and fracture analysis to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide technical guidance on design concepts, risk, cost, and performance trade-offs, supporting cross-functional teams through all project phases.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 8 years of experience analyzing ground support equipment or tooling in aerospace, automotive, or a similar industry.
- Proven experience creating and validating finite element models (FEMs) using Ansys or NX Simulation with Nastran, including FEA using 1D, 2D, and 3D elements.
- Extensive experience analyzing steel and aluminum tooling, including machining fixtures and weldments using both hand calculations and computational methods.
- Proficiency with bolted and welded joint hand calculations and strong familiarity with relevant structural codes such as AISC-360, ASME B30 & 31, and ASME BTH-1.
