Analyst, Investment Data Analytics
About the role
The Role at a Glance
Lincoln's Investment Data & Analytics team is building a centralized data, operations, and technology function that delivers operational and reporting excellence across the General Account Investments organization. We are adding a data operations analyst who will roll into the Investment Data & Analytics team and serve as a key support layer between our source systems, our data engineering team, and our business partners.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a day-to-day data and operations point of contact for the CML production, closing/servicing, and accounting teams, translating their operational and reporting needs for the development team.
- Support reconciliation across CML data sources and accounting views, investigating and resolving breaks and exceptions with auditable data controls.
- Ensure the data lifecycle end to end — from origination through closing, servicing, and accounting — ensures data flows cleanly and consistently between systems.
- Act as a liaison to internal and external auditors, assembling evidence, explaining data lineage, and supporting the integrity of reported figures.
- Partner across the Investments organization: line-of-business portfolio managers, Fixed Income, Asset Modeling, and Alternative Investments to provide data, operations, and reporting support across asset classes.
- Translate business and operational needs into clear technical requirements.
- Standardize reconciliation, reporting, and data-control practices across functions as the centralized data and analytics function matures.
- Onboard new data sources and reporting needs from partner teams into repeatable, well-controlled processes.
- Build and maintain operational and management reporting and dashboards on our centralized data platform; monitor data quality and surface exceptions proactively.
- Develop and maintain SQL-backed queries and data preparation flows that ingest, validate, and reconcile investment data from source systems.
- Partner with the development team to embed controls, validation checks, and documentation into the data pipelines and dashboards built.
- Contribute to data governance across the function — consistent definitions, data-quality controls, lineage, and documentation.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with data analytics and data operations concepts: relational data, SQL, and data integration and reconciliation across systems.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL; ability to build and maintain data preparation flows and reporting.
- Experience with a centralized data platform or comparable data-science/ETL tooling.
- Strong attention to data integrity, controls, and reconciliation, with the ability to trace and explain data lineage.
- Excellent partnership and communication skills, with the ability to translate business and operational needs into technical requirements.
- Familiarity with general account investments — commercial mortgage loans, fixed income, or alternatives — preferred; strong interest and the ability to learn quickly across asset classes is essential.
- Exposure to accounting reconciliation, investment or statutory reporting, and working with auditors is strongly preferred.
- Comfort operating as the bridge between business stakeholders, a development team, and control and audit partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, technical, finance, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- 2–4 years of professional experience in data analytics, data operations, reporting, or a related investment data support role.
