Primary Responsibilities
- Perform SAP/MES raw materials accounting activities, including month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, subledger maintenance, account analysis, and related monthly reporting.
- Prepare financial and business analyses related to material usage performance, inventory balances, safety stock levels, and strategic raw material decisions.
- Prepare, analyze, and report monthly raw material purchase forecasts and variance analyses, including explanations for discrepancies.
- Aid in establishing accounting and forecasting processes for the new brownfield melting facility in Athens, Alabama.
- Identify and implement opportunities to leverage digital tools and AI to improve analytical capabilities and reporting insights.
- Train to become a subject matter expert in SAP and internally developed raw material accounting systems.
- Identify and drive continuous process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and automation.
- Support SOX compliance and US GAAP reporting, including preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
- Track and analyze raw materials held at third-party locations.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

- Willingness to travel periodically to Athens, Alabama.

Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Prior experience in accounting, finance, or analytical roles preferred.
Technical Knowledge And Skills
- Knowledge of financial accounting principles and US GAAP.
- Experience or ability to learn SAP and manufacturing-related accounting systems.
- Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
- Ability to analyze large data sets and translate results into actionable insights.
- Exposure to forecasting, variance analysis, and inventory accounting preferred.

About the Role
The Analyst II – SAO Raw Materials supports accounting, reporting, and analysis for raw materials, the company’s largest area of spend. Reporting to the Senior Manager – SAO Raw Materials, this role partners closely with Finance, Procurement, and Operations to ensure accurate accounting treatment, compliance with US GAAP and SOX requirements, and meaningful financial insights.
