Description As a Market Evaluation Analyst II , you will perform analysis and economic studies focused on the performance, efficiency, behaviors, and overall impact of MISO’s wholesale electricity markets. You will evaluate market outcomes and operational events, use data to identify potential issues within MISO’s markets and systems, and turn complex information into meaningful insights. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to market design improvements and analytical projects that can positively impact MISO’s stakeholders and, ultimately, the end-use customers we serve. In one year, you will know you’re successful if: You independently perform statistical and economic analyses of market and system operations, market products, Market Participant behaviors, and resulting market outcomesYou have developed a strong working knowledge of MISO’s wholesale electricity markets and understand how our market systems, processes, and products work togetherYou assess the health and performance of MISO’s markets, provide timely analysis and reporting on market and operational events, and identify outcomes that may require additional evaluationYou collect, organize, and analyze complex datasets to identify meaningful patterns, trends, behaviors, and potential market or system issuesYou use data analysis, visualization, and other advanced data technologies to solve business problems and expand the team’s analytical capabilitiesYou translate complex analysis into clear findings and recommendations that support business decisions and can be effectively communicated to both technical and non-technical audiencesYou contribute to key projects that strengthen the team’s analytical capabilities, including identifying opportunities to streamline processes and automate repetitive activitiesYou contribute to team goals, create useful insights, ask relevant questions, and help identify opportunities to improve market performance This Role Requires Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Economics, Operations Research, or another related fieldAt least two (2) years of relevant professional experienceStrong experience with data analysis tools and programming languages such as R, EViews, SAS, Python, VBA, Power BI, and AzureExperience developing metrics, visualizations, and reports, including automating reporting processes and creating alerts to identify meaningful changes or trends Some Preferred Skills And Experience Include Experience in areas such as energy market forecasting and analysis, power system analysis and operations, software development, data science, statistical or econometric analysis, or wholesale market designPrevious experience working within deregulated wholesale electricity markets or the utility industryExperience within the energy industry, particularly with a Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) or Market Participant At MISO, your work helps ensure the reliable operation and continued evolution of one of the world's largest and most complex electric grids. In this role, you'll have an opportunity to help shape how MISO responds to rapidly growing large-load demand while strengthening the connection between where the grid is headed and what it needs to reliably deliver today. The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $71,000-$96,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience. Position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.
