About the Role

As a member of the Disability Management Unit (DMU), the Analyst I supports the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) by assisting employees, supervisors, and managers in the appropriate application of employee leave programs, the Workers’ Compensation (WC) Program, Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Program, and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

Responsibilities

  • Performs analytical assignments of average difficulty involving employee disability leave entitlements including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA), Non-Industrial Disability Insurance (NDI), State Disability Insurance (SDI), Parental Leave (PL), medical Leave of Absence (LOA), Catastrophic Leave (CL), and the RA Program.
  • Provides direction, consultation, and guidance related to WC case management, return to work activities, vocational rehabilitation, and leave restoration.
  • Evaluates RA requests; applies departmental policy and State and/or Federal rules and regulations requirements, including Americans with Disability Act (ADA), California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) rules, and relevant labor-code provisions.
  • Provides accurate information and support to employees, program staff, managers, and supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform analytical assignments of average difficulty involving employee disability leave entitlements.
  • Knowledge of employee leave programs including FMLA, CFRA, NDI, SDI, Parental Leave, medical Leave of Absence, Catastrophic Leave, and the Reasonable Accommodation Program.
  • Understanding of Workers' Compensation case management, return to work activities, vocational rehabilitation, and leave restoration.
  • Familiarity with ADA, Cal/OSHA rules, and relevant labor-code provisions.

Pay

  • Analyst I: $3,861.00 – $4,839.00 (Range A), $4,181.00 – $5,233.00 (Range B), $5,014.00 – $6,276.00 (Range C)
  • Analyst II (may consider): $6,031.00 – $7,547.00 (Range A)
  • New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Note: This position is subject to Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025, which temporarily reduces monthly base pay by 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown do not reflect this reduction.
