Analyst I, Budget and Finance

Purpose and Scope

The Analyst I, Budget and Finance – CyFair supports the attainment of campus strategic goals and plans through analysis of budgetary, financial, and operational data, and makes data‑based recommendations. The role assists campus managers and executives with day‑to‑day budget management, including analysis, forecasting, reallocation, and reporting to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines and goals.

Essential Job Functions

• Monitor and analyze campus budgetary and financial performance on a regular basis.
• Evaluate and forecast campus spending while recognizing trends.
• Provide financial analysis and support for campus‑wide operational initiatives.
• Review budget trends, compare to expected performance, and make recommendations as necessary.
• Summarize and submit recommendations for funding or reallocation of funds.
• Perform cost‑benefit, operational, and financial analysis.
• Assist managers and executives in the development of the annual budget.
• Examine budgets and financials for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with procedures and policies.
• Assist with day‑to‑day functions of the campus budget and finance department.
• Design and develop reports and dashboards for campus, using query functions in Lone Star systems.
• Collaborate on broader and more complex projects as directed by management.
• Seek new ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness, and make recommendations.
• Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

The work is primarily sedentary, performed at a climate‑controlled office workstation. Occasional walking, standing, bending, light lifting (papers, books, small parts), and driving may be required. No special physical demands are required.

Work Schedule and Conditions

Work is performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards. The position may involve travel within the LSC service area (north Greater Houston metro area).

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Business Analytics, Data Analysis, Statistics, or a related field.
• Experience working with budgets.
• Experience in business, financial, or operational analysis.
• Experience developing and maintaining dashboards and reports.

Salary

Hiring salary range: $48,152 – $55,375, determined by related experience and education.
