About the role
The Analyst Fraud Risk Management position at Webster is dedicated to identifying and mitigating fraudulent activities through analysis of bank transactions, new accounts, and customer behavior. This role involves monitoring transactions, reviewing account warning reports, and taking appropriate actions to prevent losses to both customers and the bank.
Responsibilities
- Maintain awareness of trends and patterns of fraudulent activity across multiple delivery channels.
- Use automated scoring systems to review daily account warning reports and investigate any fraudulent information or discrepancies.
- Take immediate action to mitigate potential fraud losses by placing holds, restricting access, preparing STMs, and conducting necessary due diligence.
- Close risky or suspicious accounts and perform account maintenance as needed.
- Review and address exception items on a daily basis.
- Provide phone support for calls from banking centers and the call center.
- Maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Make recommendations to management for updates to fraud prevention strategies based on research and findings.
- Support retail personnel with inquiries regarding fraud and suspicious activity.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of banking laws and regulations.
- Strong analytic and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently in a high-volume environment with attention to detail.
- Flexibility with work hours and daily workload requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent work experience preferred.
- 3-4 years of experience in retail operations, wire/ACH, branch supervision, compliance, audit, investigation, or law enforcement.
Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of banking laws and regulations.
- Strong analytic and computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Ability to work independently in high volume environment with attention to detail.
- Flexibility with work hours and daily workload requirements.
Pay
The estimated salary range for this position is $60,000.00 to $70,000.00. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
