About the role
The Senior Specialist of Content at Vail Mountain, supporting Vail Mountain and Beaver Creek Resort, is a vital member of the mountain communications team, assisting with the management and strategy of resort social media channels and organic content creation. This role will provide support in the development and execution of social media strategy, organization of content calendars, and execution of content plans, while assisting with the capture of timely, in-the-moment photo and video content assets from the resort experience to leverage across Vail Resorts’ various marketing channels and platforms.
This position will assist in capturing and producing the creative and content elements needed to promote the resort, including strategic planning, content capture, production, posting, distribution, and community management of channels such as social media, website, PR/marketing distribution channels, and more. The Senior Specialist of Content will help promote and build resort brand awareness and reputation, support driving visitation to the resorts, and contribute to other company priorities through high-quality content creation.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of social media strategy, content calendar, and execution.
- Utilize strong storytelling skills to bring the resort brands to life across a variety of platforms and mediums.
- Work closely with the communications and marketing team to create content and messaging that aligns with the resort brand.
- Maintain a content production calendar with an organized schedule of cadenced messaging needs.
- Assist with community management of resort social media channels and reporting.
- Assist with ideation and creation of multimedia content and creative asset development for social media, digital, video, website, blogs, and other platforms.
- Independently capture, shoot, edit, and publish multimedia content under tight deadlines, including on all powder days.
- Assist with larger-scale brand and marketing photo and video shoots.
- Organize and lead smaller-scale resort photo and video shoots, including contracted models and photographers/videographers.
- Photo and video asset management and tracking.
- Assist with various PR-related storytelling content needs as required.
- Handle miscellaneous communications and PR/marketing duties, including web content, articles, listicles, social media content, event coverage, CRM content contribution, and working with vendors, agencies, and contractors.
- Basic administrative duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in Communications, Journalism, or Marketing.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a communications and content role, preferably in the ski industry or related field.
- Strong communication, storytelling, and copywriting skills.
- An eye for visual design, with the ability to work independently to capture photo and video assets.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Understanding and knowledge of social media platforms.
- Experience with Sprout Social and other social media management programs is a plus.
- Intermediate or above skiing or snowboarding ability; able to ski/ride with a gear backpack of 30+ pounds.
- High-quality photo and video capture and editing experience, including proficiency with the full Adobe Creative Suite.
- Comfortable shooting, editing, and publishing video content, including proficiency with GoPro cameras and phone apps.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Must be organized and thrive managing multiple projects at once.
- Must be able to work within a flexible schedule to capture content at specific times (e.g., prior to resort openings, following major snowfall, during events, weekends).
- Must be familiar with leveraging and engaging with guests in a brand voice via social media platforms.
- Must speak, read, and communicate fluently in English.
Pay
Starting wage: $65,000 - $70,000. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
