Analyst - Business Data
About the role
As an Analyst - Business Data, you will play a critical role in preparing, validating, cleansing, and harmonizing product and operational data to support Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) conversions and broader data governance initiatives. Working cross-functionally with business and functional teams, you will ensure data consistency, accuracy, and readiness for migration by reviewing and refining detailed records across multiple ERP systems and data domains. You will analyze customer, product, and company data to identify trends, measure performance, and deliver actionable insights that support business decision-making. You will develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations using business intelligence tools, execute recurring and ad hoc analyses, and partner with commercial and operational stakeholders to provide data-driven recommendations that improve reporting, system functionality, and business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Execute regular and ad-hoc reports in support of commercial teams.
- Design and build data visualizations, reports, and dashboards in team BI tools to be shared with internal audiences.
- Analyze customer and company data to identify trends and potential opportunities, and measure achievement toward goals for Wesco’s customers, suppliers, operating businesses, and internal functions.
- Support commercial and cross-functional project teams with data, analysis, information, and insights.
- Assist in reviewing and updating large Excel files to ensure data consistency and completeness.
- Support the preparation of product content for upload into internal systems.
- Identify and correct inconsistent data using reference materials and/or team guidance.
- Maintain clear documentation of updates, decisions, and data issues encountered during cleanup.
- Support data cleanup and standardization across multiple systems.
- Follow established processes to ensure product data meets business standards.
- Perform ad-hoc data analysis to support project needs and reporting.
- Serve as a resource for product data questions and support team initiatives.
- Participate in team meetings to review progress and align on data standards.
- Learn and apply basic data governance principles to ensure long-term data integrity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree – Technology, Business, Finance, Statistics, Information Systems, Marketing, or Mathematics required.
- Minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience.
- 2 years preferred of analyzing data to identify insights.
- 1 year preferred of working with relational databases (e.g., AWS, Teradata, MS SQL Server, Azure, MS Access).
- 1 year preferred of working with business-to-business (B2B) selling environments.
- Familiarity with SQL, Excel, DAX, and other data-oriented programming languages preferred.
- Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data cleaning functions).
- Proficiency in mathematical calculations and concepts required.
- Critical thinking – demonstrates ability to turn data into information into insight required.
- Business acumen – understanding of business terminology and ability to determine users’ requirements and how to translate into actionable data.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate complex information in a straightforward manner using precise language, especially to non-technical audiences required.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A foundational understanding of data structures and the ability to follow established data standards and business rules.
- Solves difficult and sometimes moderately complex problems.
- Works independently with minimal supervision.
Pay
$66,477 - $86,420 annually. This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements. For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan documents. For certain sales roles, Wesco also offers a commission structure that provides additional compensation based on sales results, as defined by the applicable commission plan.
