About the role

The AN/BYG-1 Systems Engineer supports an innovative program office and serves as the primary Technical Direction Authority (TDA) Systems Engineering Point of Contact. Key responsibilities include leading requirements management, coordinating technical working groups, and ensuring successful development and delivery of combat system capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements management and ensure traceability to system requirements.
  • Coordinate technical working groups to align on system design and development.
  • Support the AN/BYG-1 Combat System or comparable Navy combat systems.
  • Use JIRA for requirements, feature, and issue management.
  • Review technical documentation, specifications, engineering artifacts, and software baselines.
  • Brief technical information to senior government leadership.
  • Coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines, contractors, and government stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
  • 7+ years of systems engineering experience supporting complex Department of Defense acquisition or combat systems programs.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles, requirements development, requirements traceability, and verification processes.
  • Experience supporting the AN/BYG-1 Combat System or comparable Navy combat systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile and SecDevOps software development methodologies.
  • Experience using JIRA for requirements, feature, and issue management.
  • Experience reviewing technical documentation, specifications, engineering artifacts, and software baselines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to brief technical information to senior government leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines, contractors, and government stakeholders.

Schedule

Onsite: Newport, RI. Occasional travel may be available for SWFTS operational demonstrations and Program Office meetings.
