Responsibilities
- Estimation of Main Line Materials Handling Systems (body welding, paint & assembly) for automotive manufacturing lines.
- Performs estimation analysis to develop reliable and optimum material handling systems based on best engineering practice or customer requirements.
- Assist in design and development of new conveyor systems, equipment and standard cost evaluations for new conveyor and equipment.
- Define electrical components to be used in an electrical control system.
- Aid Sales or Technical Service with the complete bid proposal development.
- Interface with customer engineers when gathering system requirements, then translating the requirement to functional technical specifications.
- Investigate and provide lowest cost material handling alternatives, which meet customer requirements (VA/VE).
- Make technical presentations of material handling solutions to customer engineers.
- Visit customer sites for pre-bid and proposal development.
- Overtime required when Due Date for quote has to be met.
- Travel as required.
- Assist in supplier assessment and business sourcing.
Qualifications
- Experience in system design and implementation in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Automotive manufacturing, strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Rockwell PLC and HMI components. Experience with other manufacturers is a plus (Mitsubishi, Omron, GE, Siemens…).
- Experience with industrial control systems and experience with material handling equipment.
- Strong skills and experience in estimating total costs for Electrical and Controls portion of material handling systems.
- Experience in bid proposals a plus.
- Knowledge of electrical WDs and system layout drawings.
- Proficient in AutoCAD (2000 or higher), Excel, Word, Power Point and MS Project.
- Knowledge of electrical standards (National Electric Code, ANSI, OSHA, NFPA 79, and UL508A).
- Experience with Automotive Customer Specifications.
- Basic experience writing hardware specifications.
- Advanced organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures.
- BS in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- 2-6 years experience in Electrical Engineering and control systems design.
