Ammonia Refrigeration Technician
About the role
As a part of our manufacturing group, you will be responsible for performing specific preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, mechanical and electrical repair, and other tasks and techniques to keep refrigeration systems in operational conditions to meet production, refrigeration, storage, and shipping needs.
Responsibilities
- Shift Hours: 8-hour shift, 2nd shift: 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, 3rd shift: 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. Shift will be dependent upon business need.
- Two days off per scheduled work week.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends, holidays and emergency events.
- Plant operation is 24 hours a week.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Working knowledge of industrial ammonia refrigeration.
- Working knowledge of 120/240/480-volt systems, HVAC, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Minimum 2 years of steam boiler experience.
- Minimum 2 years of electrical and/or mechanical maintenance experience.
- Minimum 2 years of refrigeration experience or equivalent education preferred.
- RETA Operator 1 and/or 2 certification is preferred but required at time of hire.
- Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred.
Qualifications
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces.
- Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms.
- Must be able to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required.
- Must be willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions.
- Must be willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery.
- Must be able to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment.
Skills
- Working knowledge of industrial ammonia refrigeration.
- Working knowledge of 120/240/480-volt systems, HVAC, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

Pay
$33.50 per hour up to $36.94 per hour depending upon skillset and experience.

- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair manufacturing and refrigeration equipment or systems.
- Perform daily rounds/checks of ammonia system.
- Provide technical support and plant leadership for refrigeration equipment troubleshooting and modification.
- Learn, follow, and engage in Process Safety Management (PSM).
- Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to increase platform performance.
- Aid in training new employees.
