About the role
Provides clinical and strategic leadership for psychiatric services within ACRS. Ensures care is high-quality, culturally responsive, and grounded in understanding of structural barriers impacting access to mental health care. Champions equitable access to care by guiding practices reducing disparities, improving engagement, and addressing complex social, cultural, and behavioral health needs.
Responsibilities
- Learns and applies psychiatric principles, evidence-based treatment modalities, and best practices in community behavioral health.
- Establishes and implements medical standards, protocols, and models of care that improve client outcomes.
- Provides clinical consultation and guidance on complex cases and system-level challenges, driving continuous improvement in psychiatric service delivery.
- Manages medical staff, establishes expectations for quality of care, supports professional development, and ensures clinical competency.
- Oversees recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, and retention of medical staff, focusing on a high-performing and mission-aligned team.
- Completes psychiatric evaluations, prescribes and monitors psychotropic medications, and participates in the care team for assigned clients.
- Learns and promotes evidence-based and culturally responsive practices, ensuring staff stay current with clinical trends, standards, and technologies.
- Represents ACRS in clinical and medical forums, including county, regulatory, and partner meetings.
- Convenes and leads medical staff meetings to drive clinical alignment, communication, and accountability.
- Shapes and advances the strategic direction of integrated behavioral health services as a member of the Behavioral Health Services leadership team.
- Ensures psychiatric services reflect and respond to the lived experiences of the communities ACRS serves, contributing to broader efforts promoting health equity, social justice, and sustainable, community-centered systems of care.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited college or university.
- At least 5 years’ experience with individuals with chronic and/or acute mental illness.
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry.
- At least 2 years in managerial capacity.

- Knowledge and Skills: Comprehensive understanding of integrated behavioral health service delivery, including coordination among medical, nursing, and case management teams; knowledge of laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing psychiatric practice; ability to provide clinical supervision and mentorship to psychiatric staff; strong leadership and administrative skills; ability to develop, implement, and monitor medical policies, protocols, and procedures; skill in fostering collaboration among multidisciplinary teams and maintaining positive working relationships with internal departments and external partners; demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively—both orally and in writing—with staff, clients, and community partners; ability to exercise sound clinical and administrative judgment in complex or high-pressure situations; skill in facilitating meetings, trainings, and case consultations that promote learning, accountability, and client-centered service delivery.
- Technical Skills: Competency in navigating electronic health record (EHR) systems like EPIC and efficiently completing documentation in compliance with agency standards; proficiency in using modern workplace technology, including collaboration tools, communication platforms, and business applications for document creation, scheduling, and data management; ability to learn new systems quickly, navigate digital workflows, and use online tools and resources to support day-to-day work.

Pay
Pay range is between $283,200 to $346,400 annually. Can increase based on experience.
