About the role
Presentation High School in San Jose, California, is seeking a part-time American Sign Language (ASL) instructor to join the Modern Language Department for the 2026-2027 school year.
Responsibilities
- Model for students the Catholic mission and values of Presentation High School
- Demonstrate subject matter competency and the ability to communicate that to high school students
- Create meaningful connections with students through culturally responsive teaching
- Utilize provided lesson plans to deliver dynamic and engaging lessons and assignments using Universal Design for Learning and other engaging pedagogical strategies
- Exercise professionalism at all times with students, parents, and colleagues
- Participate in professional development activities of the subject area, pedagogy, and technology
- Be available to students who need assistance
Requirements
- B.A. degree
- Single-subject teaching credential or Master's Degree in the subject area, preferred
- Relevant teaching experience, preferably 5 or more years at the high school level
- Experience teaching neurodiverse students and familiarity with Universal Design for Learning is a plus
