About the role

Presentation High School in San Jose, California, is seeking a part-time American Sign Language (ASL) instructor to join the Modern Language Department for the 2026-2027 school year.

Responsibilities

  • Model for students the Catholic mission and values of Presentation High School
  • Demonstrate subject matter competency and the ability to communicate that to high school students
  • Create meaningful connections with students through culturally responsive teaching
  • Utilize provided lesson plans to deliver dynamic and engaging lessons and assignments using Universal Design for Learning and other engaging pedagogical strategies
  • Exercise professionalism at all times with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Participate in professional development activities of the subject area, pedagogy, and technology
  • Be available to students who need assistance

Requirements

  • B.A. degree
  • Single-subject teaching credential or Master's Degree in the subject area, preferred
  • Relevant teaching experience, preferably 5 or more years at the high school level
  • Experience teaching neurodiverse students and familiarity with Universal Design for Learning is a plus
