American Sign Language Interpreter
TheraPeds Partners is a therapist-owned and operated organization. We partner with schools to provide American Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) services to PreK-12 students nationwide. As a team of special education providers, we understand the education process, IDEA requirements, and the importance of collaboration within multidisciplinary teams. About the role
This is a full-time, on-site role as an American Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) serving a school located in Centralia, WA. The interpreter will provide ASL services to students in the classroom setting and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs.
Schedule
- Full-time, 32.5 hours/week
- 2026-2027 School Year (September–June)
- On-site, in-person
- Hours: 7:30am–2:30pm Monday–Thursday, 7:30am–1:30pm Friday
- One high school student
- Dual support from the District and TheraPeds
- Guaranteed hours, including documentation, administrative, and planning time
Pay
$45–$60/hour
Bi-monthly salary deposits. This position will be a W-2 employee.
Responsibilities
- Provide ASL interpretation services to students in the classroom setting
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Interpret classroom instruction and student interactions accurately
- Support students throughout the school day
- Adhere to IDEA and IEP processes
- Perform necessary physical movement functions, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students
Requirements
- American Sign Language Interpretation Certification
- Passing written test
- Documentation submitted to CDE
- Fluency in ASL and English
- Strong receptive and expressive ASL skills
- RID certification (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf)
- Associate or bachelor’s degree, preferred
- Interpreter Training Program (ITP) or ASL-English interpreting degree
- Experience interpreting in K-12 classrooms
- Knowledge of IDEA and IEP processes
- Background check and fingerprinting
- Organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in communications
