About the role
The Ambulatory Biller/Coder monitors, audits, and identifies negative trends in hospital billing, providing support to staff as needed. Responsibilities include adding, removing, and prioritizing diagnosis codes from clinical departments, physicians, and Financial Service staff to ensure accurate and compliant claim billing and resubmission. The role also assists ambulatory departments with coding issues or questions to ensure claims are billed compliantly based on medical record documentation.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, audit, and identify negative trends in hospital billing.
- Provide support to staff in respective areas as needed.
- Add, remove, and prioritize diagnosis codes received from clinical departments, physicians, and Financial Service staff.
- Ensure claims are billed and/or resubmitted with appropriate coding.
- Assist ambulatory departments with coding issues and questions to ensure compliant and accurate billing based on medical record documentation.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree and two (2) years of relevant patient financial/insurance services experience in a healthcare-related setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- CBCS, CPC, CCA, or equivalent coding certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a healthcare-related field.
- Two years of healthcare billing or coding experience.
Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
