About the role
Priority Ondemand is seeking a highly responsible individual to join our team as an ambulance fleet driver. This position requires a current EMT-Basic license obtained within one year of employment.
Responsibilities
- Provides scheduled and unscheduled medical transportation services and delivers passengers to the appropriate location.
- Responds to hospitals, nursing homes, and other locations to provide medical transportation services.
- Maintains security of buildings, vehicles, equipment, medications, and all other company property.
- Ensures vehicle and equipment readiness for use at the start of each shift and after every call.
- Performs daily inspections of living quarters for cleanliness and completes necessary housekeeping duties.
- Communicates with company dispatch, medical control, and other agencies via radio, data link, pager, or cell phone as needed.
- Knows local geography including hospitals, public venues, and street systems.
- Completes and signs all appropriate documentation for every response and transport.
- Obtains complete medical histories and billing information for all passengers and/or cargo transported.
- Maintains security and privacy of all company and passenger information in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
- Adheres to Universal Precautions/Body Substance Isolation and follows Infection Control policies and procedures.
- Accepts responsibility for recertification in CPR and First Aid and for other required licenses and certifications.
- Reports to assigned shifts on time, properly groomed, and in uniform.
- Sets an example of professionalism and leadership for others to follow.
- Performs other duties as directed by management.
Qualifications
- High degree of personal integrity and responsibility.
- Currently licensed, certified, or registered by the appropriate state agencies.
- Currently certified in CPR by the AHA or equivalent organization.
- Currently certified in First Aid by the ARC or equivalent organization.
- Must become certified as an Emergency Medical Technician within one year of hire.
- Valid driver's license with appropriate state endorsements (F endorsement required for TN).
- Clean driving record as approved by company vehicle liability insurer.
- Successfully completed a CEVO ambulance driver safety classroom and practical course.
- Able to work effectively with minimal supervision, using good judgment.
- Able to interact effectively and professionally with passengers, customers, clients, family members, bystanders, and the general public.
- Able to demonstrate a level of skill and ability consistent with providing high-quality passenger care.
Physical Requirements
- The ability to pass a DOT physical.
- The ability to reach, push, and pull.
- The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- The ability to walk up and down stairs without difficulty.
- The ability to bend, stoop, squat, and kneel for long periods of time.
- The ability to walk one quarter of a mile without difficulty.
- The ability to complete all job duties during any and all hours of the day and night.
- The ability to lift and maneuver 150 pounds without difficulty.
- The ability to lift and maneuver 150 pounds up and down two flights of stairs without difficulty.
