About the role
YES Prep needs a dynamic Alumni Support Intern to support programming that maintains a partnership between YES Prep and its alumni. As a YES Prep employee, you will achieve jaw-dropping results, create pathways to opportunity for students, and build transformative relationships.
- Leading and implementing the peer-to-peer alumni mentorship program using seasoned alumni at local Houston colleges and alumni professionals to mentor, guide, and support recent YES Prep graduates as they navigate their post-secondary college journey
- Recruiting participants (alumni mentors and mentees) from local colleges
- Training mentors
- Executing programming for mentors and mentees
- Tracking and reporting data for mentorship program
- Creating communication plans for mentors and mentees
- Supporting existing alumni programming including scholarship orientation, enrollment events, alumni mentorship kick-off, and alumni engagement events
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Be eligible for the Federal Work-Study Program
- Must be enrolled full-time at the University of Houston – Downtown
- Must be able to work up to 14 hours per week
- Cumulative satisfactory academic performance in college courses
- Recommendation from YES Prep staff & current teacher, mentor, or supervisor
- Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback
- A dedication to learn, grow, and develop as a professional
