About the role

YES Prep needs a dynamic Alumni Support Intern to support programming that maintains a partnership between YES Prep and its alumni. As a YES Prep employee, you will achieve jaw-dropping results, create pathways to opportunity for students, and build transformative relationships.

  • Leading and implementing the peer-to-peer alumni mentorship program using seasoned alumni at local Houston colleges and alumni professionals to mentor, guide, and support recent YES Prep graduates as they navigate their post-secondary college journey
  • Recruiting participants (alumni mentors and mentees) from local colleges
  • Training mentors
  • Executing programming for mentors and mentees
  • Tracking and reporting data for mentorship program
  • Creating communication plans for mentors and mentees
  • Supporting existing alumni programming including scholarship orientation, enrollment events, alumni mentorship kick-off, and alumni engagement events
  • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Be eligible for the Federal Work-Study Program
  • Must be enrolled full-time at the University of Houston – Downtown
  • Must be able to work up to 14 hours per week
  • Cumulative satisfactory academic performance in college courses
  • Recommendation from YES Prep staff & current teacher, mentor, or supervisor
  • Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback
  • A dedication to learn, grow, and develop as a professional
