About the Role

As a Customer Service Representative, you'll be responsible for providing a well-stocked and well-maintained department while delivering superior customer service. This role involves stocking, rotating products, maintaining department standards, and ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Stock and rotate items as needed to maintain product freshness and availability.
  • Assist with inventory control, including loading, unloading, and moving product.
  • Organize, clean, and prepare the back area for the night crew and incoming trucks.
  • Organize merchandise on pallets to ensure the department is presentable to the public.
  • Maintain the integrity of shelf tags and signage; create or prepare signage as needed.
  • Uphold standards in shrink, safety, inventory control, and sanitation.
  • Inspect shipments for out-of-date or damaged products to ensure quality.
  • Build, stock, maintain, and dismantle store displays.
  • Provide superior customer service by answering questions and assisting with product selection.
  • Help customers locate store merchandise.
  • Merchandise products effectively and use suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and build department sales.
  • Clean and sanitize sales floors, display cases, prep areas, and equipment.
  • Properly handle and maintain the operation of all equipment.
  • Comply with departmental SOPs and store operating procedures.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Beauty: Requires knowledge of beauty and cosmetic aids.
  • Drugstore / General Merchandise: Prepare tags and signs as needed.
  • Grocery: Organize, clean, and prepare the back area for the night crew and incoming trucks; prepare tags and signs as needed.
  • Texas Backyard: Passion for the outdoors; ability to complete Green Thumb training (H-E-B internal training).
  • Entertainment: Knowledge in the audio/video field, including specialty products, movies, music, electronics, and video games.

Requirements

  • 18 years or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent) required.
  • Completion of Company Orientation and Safety Training upon hire.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

This role functions in a fast-paced, retail environment with detailed and precise tasks. You will work closely with customers and perform the following physical activities based on your department:

General Physical Demands (All Departments)

  • Frequently stand, walk, and reach at waist level.
  • Constantly grasp, pivot, and perform fine motor movements.
  • Occasionally sit, reach overhead or at floor level, bend, squat, crouch, kneel, climb stairs or ladders, and twist.
  • Occasionally exposed to cold, loud noise, and wet conditions.

Department-Specific Physical Demands

  • Beauty:
    • Constantly reach at waist and grasp.
    • Frequently reach at shoulder or knee, stoop, and pinch.
    • Demonstrate the ability to lift 30 lbs and manage in excess of 30 lbs.
  • Drugstore / General Merchandise:
    • Constantly reach at waist, pivot, and grasp.
    • Frequently push/pull with arms, perform fine motor movements, and use ulnar/radial deviation or wrist extension/flexion.
    • Demonstrate the ability to lift 55 lbs and manage in excess of 65 lbs.
  • Grocery:
    • Constantly reach at waist, pivot, and grasp.
    • Frequently exposed to cold conditions.
    • Frequently push/pull with arms, perform fine motor movements, and use ulnar/radial deviation or wrist extension/flexion.
    • Demonstrate the ability to lift 65 lbs and manage in excess of 135 lbs.
  • Texas Backyard:
    • Constantly reach at waist and grasp.
    • Frequently stand and walk.
    • Frequently exposed to ambient temperatures.
    • Demonstrate the ability to lift 65 lbs and manage in excess of 65 lbs.
  • Healthy Living:
    • Constantly stand, reach at shoulder or waist, pivot, grasp, and pinch.
    • Frequently walk, reach overhead, at knee, or at floor, stoop, squat, crouch, and kneel.
    • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and manage in excess of 50 lbs.

Frequency Definitions: Constantly = 5.5+ hours per 8-hour day; Frequently = 2.5 - 5.5 hours per 8-hour day; Occasionally = 0 - 2.5 hours per 8-hour day.

Partners must never lift beyond their own safe limit. If an item is too heavy, break it down into manageable components or ask for assistance.
