About the role
To prep, organize, prepare, and supply various food items for the salad bars, cold and hot food stations, and to-order service stations in one of the Residence Dining Halls. Assists cooks by combining ingredients, portioning, and serving from prepared-to-order stations. Maintains proper food handling and storage techniques to eliminate waste and spoilage. Works within a diverse workforce and interacts directly with customers. This position is located in Akers Hall and is designated as critical status, requiring attendance during university closures or emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and supply food items for salad bars, cold and hot food stations, and to-order service stations.
- Assist cooks by combining ingredients, portioning, and serving food.
- Maintain proper food handling and storage techniques to prevent waste and spoilage.
- Interact directly with customers in a dining hall setting.
- Adhere to standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation rules and regulations.
- Occasionally lift 26 to 75 pounds.
Requirements
- Casual knowledge of food ingredients and correct preparation and serving techniques.
- One year of satisfactory experience in a food-related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Willingness to work a flexible shift, including weekends.
- Ability to lift 26 to 75 pounds occasionally.
Schedule
Monday 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Tuesday off, Wednesday through Friday 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., with alternating weekends off.
