About the role

Cordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking an Aviation Project Manager to support our Facilities Sector. The ideal candidate will manage the scope, cost, schedule, and operational interfaces of design and construction activities for the Terminal 5 Renovation and Reconstruction Project.

Responsibilities

  • Primary liaison and airport/owner representative responsible for directing and managing the project
  • Responsible for scope development and scope management of the project to meet project goals and objectives
  • Develop the RFP and oversee the procurement process for designers and contractors
  • Provide direction and management for the assigned project and ensure on-schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations
  • Plan and define program goals and devise methods to accomplish them, developing in-depth knowledge of owner objectives, contract terms, and airport policies
  • Plan, direct, supervise, and control the execution of all technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned project
  • Oversee the owner’s staff that manages full project delivery, including stakeholder interfaces
  • Manage project scope to meet or exceed project goals and objectives
  • Identify and study options to complex design, operational, or constructability issues
  • Conduct field surveys and investigations to capture detailed and accurate field conditions
  • Maintain documentation on the approved scope of work for the project, including all related agreements, authorizations, reports, drawings, and specifications
  • Oversee the design process, including managing the Design Review Team (DRT) design review process for assigned project(s)
  • Maintain oversight of the permitting process required by the design team and contractor
  • Oversee the construction process to remove and mitigate obstacles that cause inefficiencies in the construction process
  • Become thoroughly familiar with the required contractual obligations and technical aspects of all facilities to be erected
  • Ensure all work is being performed with and inspected to the latest versions of plans and specifications, including approved changes, submittals, and RFI’s
  • Work with the designer, contractor, and stakeholders to develop the overall planning of construction activities and identify critical milestones and priorities
  • Keep alert to possible problem areas and take preventative action to ensure critical milestones are met for each phase of the project
  • Ensure the use of safe and sound construction practices
  • Prepare reports summarizing the progress of construction activities for senior management
  • Review change proposals for contractual compliance and alignment with fair market value
  • Prepare a monthly risk report for the Program Board
  • Monitor adherence to Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other documents as required, and promote excellence on the project through the application of Quality Assurance processes
  • Enforce the program requirements for all areas of the project and monitor the draft and final deliverables for adherence to these criteria
  • Review pay applications to ensure proper verification of completed work and compliance with contract requirements
  • Devise and execute action plans to rectify potential cost overruns or delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work
  • Assure that current and timely change orders are documented and administered properly
  • Participate in all necessary coordination meetings with the designer, contractor, and stakeholders
  • Manage the closeout process to ensure all documentation is completed as quickly as possible to efficiently close the project without incurring unnecessary costs
  • Ensure safety performance is well above industry standards

Qualifications

  • 15 years or more of experience, preferably on airport projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Aviation, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, or other related technical field required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Relevant professional licenses and/or certificates are strongly preferred. These may include AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, etc., or any other relevant professional licenses and/or certifications
  • Experience with projects more than $100 million in value
  • Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid- Build, Design+CMAR and Design/Build
  • Proven ability to perform in a management capacity
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations
  • Multiple positions are anticipated – Submitted experience to emphasize airport concourse scope, airport headhouse scope, or site/civil scope
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
  • Familiarity with Project Management Information Systems (PM Web)

Pay

$173,000 to $195,000 per year
