About the role
The Machine Repair Technician 2 will diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain baggage conveyor and controls systems, and related equipment. This role involves providing emergency and scheduled maintenance, performing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting, and operating various equipment such as golf carts, company vehicles, and forklifts.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain baggage conveyor and controls systems, and related equipment.
- Provide concise, accurate, and detailed data for input into the CMMS system.
- Perform emergency/unscheduled and scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment.
- Apply mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of conveyor and control systems.
- Drive and operate equipment such as golf carts, company vehicles, forklifts, etc.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Input all work orders into the CMMS system and complete all PM’s and CM’s logs and paperwork.
- Support operations by clearing bag jams on the system.
- Comply with the company safety program.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently required to climb or balance and work in small spaces; ladder work required.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
- Ability to work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircraft and in confined areas of baggage conveyor systems.
- Specific vision abilities required include good close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Good hand/eye coordination is required.
Work Environment
- Work environment is similar to airport operations with vehicular traffic.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, and vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Employees will work on an airport ramp around aircraft and heavy equipment.
Requirements
- Experience with 120, 220, and 480 AC volts.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- 3-5 years' related experience in equipment maintenance and maintenance operations.
- Perform mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic troubleshooting, and repair of baggage machines.
- Airport experience a plus.
- Intermediate understanding of PLC Control systems a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Proficiency in Word and Excel.
- Ability to clearly direct, lead work tasks, and delegate assignments to peers.
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers and fellow employees.
- Must be able to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to be badged to work in the secure area of the airport.
- Prior experience with passenger boarding bridges and conveyance systems preferred.
