About the role

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Anchorage International Airport, seeks to fill multiple Airport Operations Specialist positions to support the airport's operations and ensure the safe and efficient movement of aircraft and passengers.

Responsibilities

• Functionally manage operations of airport terminals, adjacent aircraft parking, and landside areas.
• Schedule and coordinate the operation of airport operated aircraft gates and remote parking spots used by more than 30 air carriers.
• Create, update, and implement gate management protocols and airport landside activities.
• Affirm compliance with all Federal Regulations as applicable for FAA, TSA, and CBP.

Requirements

• Two years experience resolving aircraft operating area (AOA) issues and experience involving commercial or general aviation operations, terminal operations, landside operations, or overseeing snow removal and airport and runway safety operations, subject to FAA, state, or military rules and regulations.
• Qualifying experience includes work such as an Airport Operations Officer with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.
• Must be eligible for an airport identification badge in accordance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations (49 CFR 1542).

Qualifications

To be considered, candidates must be eligible for an airport identification badge in accordance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations (49 CFR 1542), which requires fingerprinting and a background check. Candidates must also possess a valid Alaska driver's license.

Skills

• Knowledge of airport operations, including airfield, air terminal, commercial or general aviation, landside functions and operations, and security operations subject to FAA, TSA, state or military rules and regulations.
• Analytical thinking/problem solving skills, including the ability to draw on one’s knowledge and experience base and call on other references and resources as necessary.
• Oral and written communication skills, including the ability to express information effectively, listen to others, attend to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately.
