About the role

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is seeking an Airframe Structural Liaison Engineer to join our Engineering department based in Mobile, AL. The role involves working closely with production teams on various aspects of aircraft assembly, including managing technical information, quality control, maintenance tasks, and health & safety.

Responsibilities

  • Accountability for approved repair, rework, and troubleshooting instructions, and design update solutions.
  • Create and approve technical solutions, including structure justification reports for repairs/reworks or design updates.
  • Define technical solutions during NC treatment for metallic and composite structures, covering all primary/secondary aircraft structure (Airframe ATA chapters).
  • Create, approve, and monitor design corrective actions/improvements and preventive measures.
  • Provide engineering support to the Flight Line Activities (FAL) during the entire manufacturing process, including presenting technical explanations/corrective actions to the flight test department and customers (internal and external).
  • Create, approve, and authorize temporary aircraft definitions (special instructions) in line with design and airworthiness requirements for testing purposes.
  • Identify and solve problems, ensuring product improvements or non-conformity eradication.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in aerospace, mechanical, or aircraft construction engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of experience in the aviation industry, with preference for Airbus aircraft.
  • Capability to train towards and obtain Design Office and Chief Engineering delegations for Commercial Aircraft.
  • Experience in design of metallic and/or composite aircraft structure (airframe).
  • Knowledge in fatigue and damage tolerance justification, stress calculations/justifications, aerospace materials, repair design, and stress principles.
  • Knowledge of Aircraft configuration management rules and Airbus internal procedures, processes, and tools.
  • Experience with Airbus manuals (Structure Repair Manual, Aircraft Maintenance Manual, Illustrated Parts Catalog, etc.).
  • Demonstrated success in identifying and solving problems.

Qualifications

  • Eligible for employment in the US.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time overseas and domestically within the Airbus international network, supplier, and customer sites.

Competitive base salary with incentive compensation.
