Aircraft Technician

About the Role

As an Aviation Inspector/Technician, you will perform inspections, maintenance, and upgrades of company-operated aircraft to ensure exceptional reliability and availability. You will also ensure compliance with all manufacturers, IBM, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) specifications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct aircraft inspections to ensure proper operation in compliance with all manufacturers' specifications and maintain airworthiness per Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and IBM regulations.
• Maintain all necessary records required by IBM SOPs and applicable FAR regulations, including FAA Repair Station certificate documentation.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in aircraft systems, ground support equipment, and tooling as part of a team.
• Ensure aircraft, ground support equipment, and tooling comply with manufacturers', IBM, and FAA specifications.
• Perform maintenance and upgrades of company-operated aircraft to ensure reliability and availability.
• Perform maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of aircraft systems, including:
  • Airframe, engine, avionics, cabin, and communication systems
  • Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues on installed aircraft systems
• Utilize maintenance tracking and recordkeeping software.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards, including FAA, OSHA, airport, and company requirements.
• Communicate effectively with team members, lead technicians, inspectors, and management.
• May be authorized to return aircraft to service after approval by the Chief Inspector (privileges granted based on recommendations from lead technicians and the Maintenance Manager).

Requirements

• Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
• Relevant experience on comparable aircraft types operated by the organization.
• Strong understanding of aircraft systems and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Aircraft Crew Chief experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Familiarity with FAA Regulations, including Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) related to aircraft maintenance and inspection.
• Exposure to aircraft systems on same or similar aircraft, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Understanding of quality control procedures and identifying discrepancies in aircraft maintenance and inspection.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and platforms, including heights of 30+ feet.
• Comfort working in confined spaces.
• Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions.

• Flexible to work varied shifts, including rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends.
