About the role
This role supports Northrop Grumans Manufacturing Operations Organization at their Palmdale, CA site. It involves assisting with aircraft structures, requiring a high level of attention to detail, quality focus, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Read and understand blueprints
- Translate blueprints into fabrications of structural assemblies
- Perform precision drilling, countersinking, and use of calibrated tools
- Align parts on jigs using templates and fixtures
- Perform part-fitting operations such as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming
- Measure parts with precision tools like micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions
- Modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures
- Use appropriate PPE when working on the shop floor
- Recommend and implement continuous improvement activities in production methods, equipment performance, and team effectiveness
Requirements
- Aircraft Structures Level 2: High School diploma or GED, minimum 2 years’ structures/sheet metal experience in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing, or maintenance environment
- Aircraft Structures Level 3: High School diploma or GED, minimum 5 years’ structures/sheet metal experience in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing, or maintenance environment
Qualifications
- Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitive work, including bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking, squatting, crawling, twisting, carrying tools, lifting up to 35 pounds, and working with arms overhead
- Ability to access small, confined spaces and work in an enclosed environment
- Pass medical/respiratory evaluation to obtain and maintain necessary respirator clearance and compliance with all respirator fitting requirements
- Pass a New Hire Physical prior to starting
- Ability to work 1st shift “5 AM – 3:30 PM” or 2nd shift “4:12 PM – 2:42 AM” and any work schedule
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Secret or Top-Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- US citizenship required for clearance
- The ability to utilize a computer for basic functions (including navigating through Windows operating systems, getting online, executing online training modules, and ability to be trained using on-the-job software)
- Successfully complete and pass the “ASTAR New Hire Training / Compliance” within a reasonable period, as defined by the company to meet its business needs

Pay
- Primary Level Salary Range: $56,000.00 - $93,400.00
- Secondary Level Salary Range: $66,600.00 - $111,000.00
