About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, cutting on airframe components.
  • Apply and remove sealant, sound deadening, and finish materials.
  • Maintain, clean, and repair shop facilities, equipment, and tooling when required.
  • Safely operate shop equipment such as brakes, presses, riveting equipment, shears, and hand tools associated with sheet-metal functions.
  • Use basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
  • Perform all job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Requirements

  • A High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Airframe and Powerplant License is not required, but welcome.
  • A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal or fabrication processes (forming, drilling, stamping, shaping, bending, punching, cutting, riveting, filing and dimpling).
  • Journeyman: 0-5 years of experience as sheet metal technician.
  • Master: 5+ years’ experience as a sheet metal technician.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attend work every day as scheduled; opportunities to work overtime as workflow permits.
  • Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
  • Work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
  • Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
  • Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Skills

  • Basic to advanced knowledge of aircraft structures.
  • Ability to read blueprints, work from drawings, fastening systems, procedures, and techniques.
  • Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
  • Effective communication skills (speaking, writing, reading in English).
