This position is contingent on contract award. Location: Fairchild AFB WA with CONUS/OCONUS travel.

About the role

This is a non-exempt service employee classification. Overtime and paid time off will be administered in accordance with federal SCA standards and the prime contract stipulations.

Pay

Rate: $30–40/hour. A health and welfare fringe benefit allowance of $5.09 per hour up to 40 hours per week will be provided in addition to the base hourly rate.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled/unscheduled maintenance
  • Supervises subordinate mechanics and provides technical guidance on maintenance operations
  • Performs, supervises, and inspects duties of mechanics
  • Troubleshoots repairs/maintenance to include structural components, engines, flight control, hydraulics, fuel systems, etc.
  • Provides professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data (blueprints/manuals)
  • Makes entries in aircraft logs and records
  • Provides guidance and technical expertise to technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts
  • Ability to travel CONUS/OCONUS
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus a technical or vocational certificate in mechanics or hydraulics
  • Must be a US citizen with a valid driver’s license
  • Must have an active Secret Clearance
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct hands-on work at an Air Force Wide-body platform (preferably KC-135) or equivalent
  • Experience leading a team and scheduling work/tasks
  • Must have a valid passport
  • Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair
  • Detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools (test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, etc.)
  • Experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike
  • Great organizational skills
  • Must be able to read blueprints and technical schematics, use hand tools, and follow strict safety rules for high-pressure systems
  • Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime

Working Conditions

  • Able to work in tight/awkward and high spaces
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • May include bending, twisting, lifting, and climbing
