Essential Responsibilities
- Supports highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries.
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including repairs, modifications, and structural components of complex to extreme difficulty.
- Maintains and repairs aircraft components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
- Determines equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data.
- Completes inspections including preflight, thru-flight, basic post-flight, and phase inspections.
- Launches and recovers aircraft as required.
- Operates all associated ground support equipment and uses hand tools, special tools, and fixtures applicable to aircraft.
- Maintains aircraft appearance and cleanliness.
- Performs operational checks of all aircraft systems.
- Annotations maintenance actions in aircraft records/forms and completes associated IMDS entries.
- Promotes good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness, and prevention, and safety at all times.
- Performs other duties related to the occupational field as assigned, including TDY and travel.
- Must be able to work various shifts as required.
- Become proficient to perform maintenance in three classifications (aircraft general, jet engines, and pneudraulics) through Cross Utilization Training (CUT).
Minimum Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED required.
- Knowledge of aircraft hand tools, special tools, and test equipment.
- Working knowledge of aircraft safety requirements and the ability to operate portable firefighting equipment.
- Comprehension of schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications.
- An FAA A&P certificate required.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a flightline driver’s license required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years’ working knowledge of aircraft maintenance operations preferred.
