About the role

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking a qualified Aircraft Mechanic to join the 12th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at JBSA (Joint Base San Antonio) – Randolph, in Universal City, TX. This is a full-time federal position offering a rewarding career with exceptional pay and benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Completes various levels of maintenance from major overhaul to routine maintenance and servicing of associated T-6 aircraft using appropriate technical data.
  • Determines the nature of malfunctions and extent of adjustment or repair required on a number of major aircraft systems such as airframe, landing gear, power plant, gear boxes, pumps, hydraulic, pressurization, utility, fuel, oil, pneumatic, and flight control systems.
  • Performs aircraft tow operations, refuels, defuels, jacking, engine runs/operational checkouts, and cabin pressurization checks.
  • Accomplishes operational and maintenance record keeping, both manual and automated, associated with aircraft maintenance and repair. Uses associated hand tools and test equipment to include, but not limited to wrenches, torque wrenches, speed wrenches, pneumatic wrenches, external power/air sources, pneudraulic test stands, etc.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Military experience in an Airframe and Powerplant license is required.
  • Assists with launch, recovery, servicing, and ground-handling of aircraft.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of supply procedures, the publication order system, and documentation procedures.
  • Knowledge of the makeup, operation, installation, and adjustment of a variety of major interrelated and/or integrated aircraft systems, subsystems, and assemblies such as fuel and hydraulic systems, flight control systems, instrumentation systems, engines, landing gear assemblies, airframe, and control surfaces.

Skills

  • Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.

Pay

The hourly wage range for a WG-09 through WG-10 position at Joint Base San Antonio – Randolph is $30.12 - $37.38.
