Responsibilities

  • Perform general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems
  • Removal and installation of panels and components
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving aircraft system/component issues
  • De-fueling aircraft
  • Engine removal/installations
  • Operating ground support equipment
  • Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components
  • Aircraft movement and assistance in performance runs/taxiing
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment, and tooling
  • Immediately notify the Lead Mechanic of any problem areas such as parts, materials, workmanship, or airworthiness issues
  • Provide the Lead Mechanic with a detailed report of work progression and open items to be included in the shift turnover log
  • Proper tagging of aircraft components, parts, and panels, including appropriate storage on racks by aircraft
  • Use basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases
  • Willing and able to work rotating shifts including nights, holidays, weekends, and days off
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (speak, write, read) in English
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Airframe and Powerplant License (required)
  • Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport (ideal)
  • Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines and time constraints
  • Reliable attendance, including overtime and weekend assignments
  • Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work a scheduled shift
  • Reliable transportation to get to work each day
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines
  • Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties
  • Maintain customer-oriented work habits

Physical Requirements

  • Lifts up to 70 lbs
  • Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting
  • Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands
  • Work on elevated platforms (up to 40 ft. in the air) using fall protection safety gear
  • Work in small, restricted areas
  • Standing for long periods of time

Mental Requirements

  • Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines
  • Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation
  • Work with others in a professional manner

Supervision

Work under the supervision of an assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance. May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations (very cold to very hot)
  • Work outside during aircraft runs will occur
  • Varied positions in and around the aircraft

Equipment Used

  • Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment
  • Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices
  • Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment
