About the role
The Aircraft Issue Clerk is responsible for the issuing of aircraft to pilots in accordance with applicable procedures. Certifies issued aircraft are safe for flight.
Responsibilities
- Provides technical assistance, guidance and instruction to employees in the Organizational Maintenance Control Clerk and Data Entry Clerk classifications.
- Performs the duties and responsibilities of the Data Entry Clerk classification.
- Releases aircraft that are “Safe for Flight”.
- Operates two-way communication equipment to coordinate flight line operations.
- Utilizing flight schedules designate and issue aircraft in accordance with mission requirements to scheduled instructor pilots and students.
- Directs pilot discrepancies to appropriate maintenance personnel.
- Affords assistance to student and instructor pilots in completion of applicable maintenance forms.
- Maintains / reviews Aircraft Discrepancy Books (ADB) to ensure accuracy.
- Collaborates with squadron flight duty officer to coordinate special / cross country flights.
- Maintains appropriate tracking for fuel, aborts, trouble calls, oxygen servicing, turn around inspections, etc.
- Tracks flight hours to initiate aircraft engine oil sampling.
- Provides technical assistance, guidance and instruction as required.
- Complies with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility and job assignment.
- Ensures safety, security and preservation of government and company owned equipment.
- Performs other qualified duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Three (3) or more years’ experience in military or civilian aviation maintenance control.
- Satisfactory completion of U.S. Armed Forces aviation clerical courses or other schools with equivalent curriculum or three (3) year of on-the-job training and / or experience.
- Able to meet any Government / Company licensing / qualification requirements for the position.
- Possess a working knowledge of the control and coordination of aircraft maintenance.
- Able to operate two-way communication equipment and speak in a clear and concise manner.
- Working knowledge of aircraft maintenance records.
- Basic understanding of the aircraft and aircraft systems.
- Working knowledge of applicable maintenance / technical manuals and publications.
- Basic computer entry skills.
Qualifications
- Normal administrative duties with occasional kneeling, standing, stooping, and bending.
- Required lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Administrative office environment with minimum exposure to noise hazards.
- May be required to handle hazardous materials.
