Aircraft Interior Technician - 1288

About the role

As an Aircraft Interior Technician at West Star Aviation, you will be based at one of our Fleet or Service Hubs and work on sophisticated private aircraft. Benefits begin on your first day and include medical, dental, 401K match, time off accruals, and weekly paydays.

Responsibilities

• Remove and install carpeting, insulation, soundproofing, and fabric accessories
• Replace and repair parts; perform basic electrical system installation, modifications, refurbishments, and general mechanical applications on aircraft interiors
• Troubleshoot and repair damaged or worn interior components
• Make minor modifications to panels, seats, carpets, cabinetry, upholstery, etc.
• Measure, cut, and fit materials such as leather, fabric, and composites for interior refurbishments
• Assist in aircraft detailing and cleaning
• Maintain and repair shop facility, equipment, and tooling
• Navigate electronic training materials, manuals, and maintenance databases
• Ensure cleanliness of the shop and surrounding areas
• Work independently when required
• Communicate effectively in English (speaking, writing, reading)
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by a supervisor or management

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport
• 5+ years of experience working on private aviation interiors (preferred)
• Reliable transportation to get to work each day
• Ability to lift and carry at least 70 lbs
• Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting
• Ability to work on elevated platforms (up to 40 feet) using fall protection safety gear
• Engage in routine or repetitive physical motions with arms and hands
• Stand for long periods; climb ladders and stairs; work in small, restricted areas
• Understand and implement regulations and guidelines, including OSHA and Hazmat
• Plan and organize procedures and operations
• Read various reports and blueprints

Physical Requirements

• Lift and carry at least 70 lbs
• Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting
• Work on elevated platforms (up to 40 feet in the air) using fall protection safety gear
• Engage in routine or repetitive physical motions with arms and hands, emphasizing grasping, feeling, and finger dexterity
• Stand for long periods
• Climb ladders and stairs, working in small, restricted areas

Working Conditions

• Majority of work performed in hangar or shop environment with extreme temperatures
• Occasional work outside on the ramp
• Varied positions in and around the aircraft

• Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic
• Electrical power tools such as sanders, saws, power drills, etc.
• Sheet metal cutters, glue guns, and metal benders
• Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment
• Spray booth and all related equipment
