About the role
This position is available at West Star Aviation, a leading MRO provider with multiple facilities across the United States. As an Interior Finish Technician, you will be responsible for various tasks related to aircraft interior finishes.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for interior finish processes, including wood finishes on assigned aircraft
- Varying amounts of gloss and satin applications
- Sanding hardwood as needed to apply the finish
- Develop and complete aircraft interior cabinet finishes
- Assisting with paint and techniques for major modification projects
- Identifying colors and color matches as needed
- Having basic knowledge of stains, lacquers, clear coats, etc.
- Understanding chemicals (thinners, catalysts, cleaners, etc.) and safety procedures
- Basic knowledge of paints and spraying equipment
- Performing maintenance and repair of shop facilities, equipment, and tooling
- Possessing basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the shop and surroundings
- Communicating effectively and clearly (i.e., speaking, writing, reading) in English
- Performing any other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor or management
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not required
- 2 - 5 years of experience in wood finishing processes or related fields such as auto refinishing and collision repair. Aircraft finishing experience is preferred
- Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints is common
- Reliable transportation to get to work every day
- Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments
- Notify the supervisor in advance if unable to work
- Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines
- Follow all company and safety rules during duties
- Maintain customer-oriented work habits
- Assist in major modification work as needed
Qualifications
- Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases
- Basic knowledge of paints and spraying equipment
- Understanding and applying regulations and guidelines, including OSHA, Hazmat, etc.
- Reading and comprehending various documents
- Planning and organizing procedures and operations

Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
