About the Role
The Aircraft Ground Test Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and documenting ground tests for electrical and avionics systems ranging from individual printed circuit boards (PCBs) to fully integrated aircraft platforms. This role ensures all electrical assemblies and systems meet design specifications, regulatory requirements, and aircraft-level performance standards. The engineer will work closely with design engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to troubleshoot issues, validate system functionality, and support final aircraft acceptance.
Responsibilities
- Develop ground test procedures and plans for electrical assemblies, sub-systems, and fully integrated aircraft systems.
- Perform hands-on testing of PCBs, harnesses, LRUs, and complex avionic/electrical systems using standard and specialized test equipment.
- Conduct functional, integration, and acceptance tests during aircraft build-up, including power-on, system initialization, communication checks, and safety verifications.
- Analyze test data, determine root causes of failures, and drive corrective actions with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Maintain accurate test documentation including test results, discrepancy reports, and configuration records.
- Support troubleshooting during aircraft production and assist with non-conformance investigations.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, systems engineering, and flight test teams to ensure smooth transition from ground testing to flight readiness.
- Provide technical guidance on electrical system design improvements to enhance testability and reliability.
Requirements
- Experience in testing electrical assemblies from PCB-level to aircraft-level systems.
- Experience in prototype board bring up and component level validation.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and avionics systems, signal routing, harnessing, and system integration.
- Proficiency with multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and automated test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a focus on safety and quality.
- Effective communication and documentation skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with aircraft certification processes, manufacturing environments, or aerospace ground test operations is preferred.
