About the role
At Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Palmdale, CA, you will support our Manufacturing Operations Organization as an Aircraft Electrician at Entry Level or Level 1. This hands-on role demands strong attention to detail, a focus on quality, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical assembly and wire harness installation
- Check, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems for conformance to specifications
- Repair, remove, and reinstall wiring as necessary
- Cut wire to length, strip insulation, and insulate connections with plastic sleeves
- Attach wire or electrical systems to fixtures and accessories such as transformers, instrument panels, and switchboards using fasteners (bolts, screws, or solder)
- Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures
- Obtain half- and full-face respirator certification and use appropriate PPE on the shop floor
- Recommend and implement continuous improvement activities in production methods, equipment performance, and team effectiveness
Basic Qualifications
- Aircraft Electrician Level E: High School diploma or GED; minimum of 3 months of electrical experience in aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing, and/or maintenance
- Aircraft Electrician Level 1: High School diploma or GED; minimum of 9 months of electrical experience in aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing, and/or maintenance
- Ability to perform moderate to strenuous physical and repetitious work including bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking, squatting, crawling, twisting, carrying tools, lifting up to 35 pounds, and working with arms overhead
- Ability to access small, confined spaces and work in enclosed environments
- Ability to pass medical/respiratory evaluation to obtain and maintain respirator clearance and comply with all respirator fitting requirements
- Ability to pass a New Hire Physical prior to starting
- Ability to work 1st shift (5:00 AM – 3:30 PM) or 2nd shift (4:12 PM – 2:42 AM) and any work schedule
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Secret or Top Secret clearance and Program Special access within a reasonable period; U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to use a computer for basic functions (navigating Windows, online access, executing training modules, and on-the-job software training)
- Must successfully complete and pass the “ASTAR New Hire Training / Compliance” within a reasonable period
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
- Completion of an A&P certificate program
- Completion of ELTE 145 course at Antelope Valley College
- Active DoD Secret clearance with an investigation date/periodic review within the last 6 years
Pay
- Aircraft Electrician Level E Salary Range: $43,400 – $72,300
- Aircraft Electrician Level 1 Salary Range: $47,200 – $78,600
- Salary is determined by scope and responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions; overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may apply
