About the role
The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) seeks an Aircraft Avionics Technician to join the 12th Maintenance Group at Joint Base San Antonio – Randolph, Texas. This is a full-time federal position offering a rewarding career with exceptional pay and benefits.
Responsibilities
- Tests and troubleshoots various components and assemblies of electronic equipment such as radio and radar receivers and transmitters.
- Performs functional tests to isolate faults in avionic electronic and electromechanical systems and their associated subassemblies.
- Maintains aircraft electrical systems, instruments, automatic flight controls, inertial and standard navigation, and communication systems.
- Maintains radio system equipment such as high frequency (HF), very high frequency (VHF), and ultra-high frequency (UHF) radios, secure voice auxiliary components, transponders and radar systems.
- Maintains systems such as enhanced station keeping equipment (ESKE), tactical airborne navigation (TACAN), Automatic direction finding (ADF), auto pilot, stability augmentation, all weather landing systems (AWLS), and fuel savings advisory systems (FSAS).
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- This is a drug testing position. The employee is subject to random drug testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, crawl, and stand for prolonged periods on concrete or metal surfaces.
- Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally may lift and carry items that weigh about 50 pounds with mechanical lifting devices or with assistance from other workers.
- Shift work and emergency overtime may be required.
