Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Engage campers in all scheduled activities.
- Follow a daily schedule as directed by a supervisor or Camp Director.
- Aid with breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
- Supervise campers on all field trips.
- Take a head count and call roll before each departure from camp and each field trip.
- Assist counselors with activities as directed.
- Engage campers in scheduled activities; motivate and encourage participation.
- Organize groups for on-campus events.
- Report all camper illness or injury and treat with first aid as needed.
- Assist in the dismissal of campers.
- Escort campers to aftercare, bus area, or carpool according to dismissal procedures.
- Aid in camp cleaning as directed by group leader or Camp Director.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow all rules, regulations, and procedures listed in the Counselor Handbook.
- Attend all assigned orientations, trainings, and set-ups prior to the beginning of camp.
- Be prepared to work in different areas of camp, working with a group, swimming lessons, kitchen, clean-up, arts/crafts, assisting in the office.
- Understand that you will be evaluated every week during camp.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Must be physically and mentally able to meet the challenges of navigating and working in destination-based facilities.
Reporting and Relationships
- The Counselor-in-Training reports to their direct Supervisor and the Director.
- Maintain a professional attitude when attending off-and on-campus field trips.
- Maintain a positive rapport with campers, parents, camp Director, and all other camp location personnel.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience working with children or groups of children.
- Willingness to work well in a team environment.
- Willingness to be fully engaged with campers in various activities.
