Responsibilities
- Load and unload express packages from air freight containers to and from semi-trucks in a widely dispersed area.
- Sort, scan, and move small packages within the warehouse.
- Build up and break down package containers ready for outbound/inbound flights.
- Remove tie-downs and other gear when loading and unloading.
- Operate air freight handling equipment such as pallet jacks and gaylords (push carts).
- Weigh, label, or make/break down gaylords or air freight containers.
- Check air express containers for proper piece count, weight, dimensions, and documents as appropriate per air safety and security guidelines.
- Report to position on time, as scheduled, including mandatory overtime requirements, varying shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Successfully complete required computer-based and on-the-job trainings.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and performance standards.
- Perform all functions in accordance with safety procedures and policies.
- Work outdoors with exposure to extreme weather/elements, engine noise, and noxious fumes.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or international equivalent required.
- One-year experience in a similar role preferred but not required.
- Valid Driver’s license.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to work weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and holidays. Peak Season (November-December) may require longer hours.
- Ability to read, write, and understand the English language.
- Ability to understand and react to verbal commands and safety warnings, with or without assistance of sight or visual aids.
Preferred Skills
- Ability to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language.
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends (i.e., Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), holidays, and days off.
- Ability to judge distances.
- Ability to successfully communicate with others.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures, rain, wind, and snow.
- Ability to stand for an entire shift and move long distances across our facilities by foot.
