About the role
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking skilled pilots for the Air Interdiction Agent (AIA) position. This role involves aviation-based law enforcement operations to detect, prevent, interdict, and apprehend terrorists, weapons, and contraband.
Responsibilities
- Conducting air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities related to the interdiction of smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels.
- Making rapid decisions and developing strategies during in-flight operations.
- Collecting, refining, and analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence.
- Supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts.
Requirements
- A current FAA Commercial or ATP Pilot Certification with one of the following ratings: Dual Rated, Airplane, Helicopter.
- At least 1500 flight hours, with up to 500 hours waived, and 250 hours as a Pilot-in-Command, 75 hours as an Instrument pilot, and 75 hours as a Night pilot.
- An FAA Class 2 medical certificate valid within the last 12 months.
- Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
Qualifications
- One year of specialized professional aviation experience.
- Experience flying as a Pilot-in-Command or sole manipulator in an airplane and helicopter in all environments of flight.
- Ability to evaluate information rapidly and make decisions promptly during in-flight operations.
- Knowledge of information systems and databases for conducting information surveys, queries, updates, and dissemination.

Pay and Schedule
- Starting salaries range from $120,636 to $189,223 annually, depending on location and grade level.

Schedule
Duty locations are based on operational requirements and mission needs, including Southeast Region, Southwest Region, NASOC UAS locations, and others.
