About the role
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking skilled pilots for the Air Interdiction Agent (AIA) position. This role involves aviation-based law enforcement operations to detect, prevent, interdict, and apprehend terrorists, weapons, and other contraband.
Responsibilities
- Conducting air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities related to the interdiction of smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels.
- Making rapid decisions and developing strategies during in-flight operations.
- Collecting, refining, and analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence.
- Supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts.
Requirements
- A current FAA Commercial or ATP Pilot Certification with one of the following ratings: Dual Rated, Airplane, or Helicopter.
- At least 1500 flight hours, with up to 500 hours waived, and 250 hours as a Pilot-in-Command, 75 hours as an Instrument pilot, and 75 hours at night.
- An FAA Class 2 medical certificate within the last 12 months.
- Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
Qualifications
- One year of specialized professional aviation experience.
- Experience flying as a Pilot-in-Command or sole manipulator in an airplane and helicopter in various environments.
- Ability to evaluate information rapidly and make decisions promptly during in-flight operations.
- Knowledge of information systems and databases.

Pay and Schedule
- Salary range based on GS-11 grade level, with potential additional compensation based on duty location.

Duty locations are offered based on operational requirements and mission needs. You must be willing to work at any duty location within the selected region.
