About the role
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Air and Marine Operations (AMO) is seeking skilled pilots for the role of Air Interdiction Agent (AIA). This position offers an exciting career path with competitive pay, benefits, and job stability.
Responsibilities
- Conducting air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities related to the interdiction of smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels.
- Making rapid and judicious decisions during in-flight operations.
- Evaluating information and developing strategies for aircraft and ground assets.
- Using information systems and databases to conduct information surveys, queries, update files, and disseminate information.
- Supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts.
Requirements
- Certification & Ratings: Current FAA Commercial or ATP Pilot Certification with dual-rated or airplane-rated ratings, including instrument rating.
- Flight Hours: At least 1500 flight hours, with up to 500 hours waived, and 250 hours as a Pilot-in-Command, 75 hours instrument, and 75 hours night flying.
- Medical Clearance: FAA Class 2 medical required within the last 12 months.
- Residency: Must have had primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
- Age Requirement: Maximum age of 40 for original appointment, subject to Commissioner's approval.
Qualifications
- Experience: One year of specialized professional aviation experience performing duties such as flying as a Pilot-in-Command or sole manipulator in an airplane and helicopter in all environments of flight.
- Other Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen and have a valid driver's license.

- Competitive salary range: $88,509 - $163,996 per year.

Pay
Salary begins at $120,636 for the GS-11 grade level and increases annually based on performance and length of service.
Schedule
Duty locations are based on operational requirements and may include Southeast Region: Homestead, FL and CAMB: Aguadilla, PR; Southwest Region: Tucson and Yuma, AZ; San Diego, CA; El Paso, Laredo, and McAllen, TX; NASOC UAS locations: Sierra Vista, AZ; San Angelo, TX.
