Air Force Clinical Social Worker (FAIS) - Joint Base San Antonio, TX

IVA’AL Solutions, LLC provides support to the Air Force (AF) Family Advocacy Program (FAP) and staffs qualified professionals at U.S. AF Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) nationwide. The AF FAP is a Department of Defense-funded program focused on preventing and responding to intimate partner abuse, child abuse, and problematic sexual behavior in children and youth.

About the role

The Family Advocacy Intervention Specialist (FAIS) is a member of the multidisciplinary Family Advocacy Program (FAP) team, working in the following prioritized capacities:

• Assess families referred for suspected maltreatment and provide treatment for individuals, families, and groups where allegations met criteria for maltreatment.
• Deliver voluntary, comprehensive prevention services (primarily home-based) to prevent family maltreatment.
• Provide voluntary prevention counseling to individuals, families, or groups at risk for maltreatment.
• Direct the development and implementation of secondary prevention services, including community behavioral health education and family violence education/prevention training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of families referred for suspected maltreatment.
• Provide clinical counseling services to adults and children experiencing family violence.
• Facilitate or co-lead group therapy sessions.
• Develop and implement secondary prevention services and community education programs.
• Document client visits and treatment using Family Advocacy System of Records or Family Advocacy Program Network software, adhering to AF FAP standards.
• Maintain clinical records and ensure compliance with professional practice guidelines.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited school.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker at the independent level with a current, unrestricted State license.
• Two years’ full-time post-master’s degree experience (within the last three years) providing clinical counseling services to adults and children experiencing family violence.
• Experience as a group therapy facilitator or co-leader.
• Ability to obtain privileges at the Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
• Must obtain and maintain Basic Life Support Certification (Course C).
• Must have transportation and a valid driver’s license.
• Must obtain and maintain a NACI Clearance.

Skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry for clinical record-keeping.
• Experience using Family Advocacy System of Records or Family Advocacy Program Network software.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands or fingers to handle objects, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to kneel, stoop, and crouch.
• May lift objects up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment

• Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
• Travel may be required, primarily local during business hours, with occasional out-of-area or overnight travel (typically one-night stays; some personnel may be asked to provide services for 2-3 weeks).
• Travel complies with Joint Travel Regulation (JTR).

Schedule

• Full-time position, generally 0730 to 1630, Monday through Friday.
• Closed on U.S. holidays, during local or national emergencies, administrative closings, or similar government-directed facility closures.
