What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience in air export operations, freight forwarding, or a related field preferred
- Working knowledge using Cargowise preferred
- Strong working knowledge of export documentation, IATA regulations, and international air shipping processes
- Familiarity with dangerous goods (DG) handling and IATA DGR requirements preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including direct interaction with customers, carriers, and overseas agents
- Able to work independently on complex shipments with minimal oversight
- Strong work ethic, accountability, and problem-solving mindset
Position Overview
The Air Export Agent II independently manages the end-to-end coordination of air export shipments, including moderately complex and high-value or time-sensitive freight.
This role takes ownership of documentation accuracy, regulatory compliance, and carrier/agent coordination. This position plays a key role in maintaining strong customer relationships, and is expected to exercise sound judgment in resolving shipment exceptions.
The schedule for this role may include weekends on a rotational basis and may require holiday coverage depending on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage air export shipments from booking through final delivery confirmation, including complex, high-value, or time-sensitive freight
- Prepare, review, and audit Master and House Air Waybills and other export documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Cook directly with airlines, overseas agents, trucking companies, and other service providers to secure space and resolve routing issues
- Handle dangerous goods documentation and shipments in accordance with IATA DGR standards, where applicable
- Proactively communicate shipment status, delays, and exceptions to customers and internal stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records in the Transportation Management System (TMS) and ensure timely, accurate billing and cost entry
- Serve as a point of escalation for junior Air Export Agents and assist with onboarding and training
- Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors
- Ensure compliance with all applicable export regulations, customs requirements, and company policies
