About the Role

GEO provides complementary, turnkey solutions for numerous government partners worldwide across diversified correctional and community reentry services. As an Air Detention Officer, you will serve as part of a security crew providing charter aircraft services, ensuring the general security and safety of all noncitizens and crew while onboard the aircraft.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload noncitizens onto and off the aircraft, including those requiring special assistance.
  • Search noncitizens for contraband and provide meals during flight.
  • Escort noncitizens to restrooms and apply/remove restraints as applicable.
  • Identify proper documentation and search the aircraft for contraband.
  • Assist in post-flight cabin cleanup and load/unload property.
  • Maintain perimeter security as requested and complete checklists/checkpoints during shifts.
  • Secure and protect personnel and property until properly relieved.
  • Report violations, sound alarms in emergencies, and take counteraction to save lives or property, including intervening in physical altercations and de-escalating conflicts.
  • Provide embarkation and debarkation security at each Port of Call.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a United States citizen residing in the U.S. and able to obtain required visas and inoculations for travel.
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid U.S. passport.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience as a corrections/detention officer, law enforcement officer, or security guard with a state-issued guard card.
  • Must be certified as a Security Officer in the state where work is performed and maintain certification.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs and writing detailed reports.
  • Must report to work on time as scheduled and possess physical stamina for long, irregular shifts (often 8–12+ hours) due to flight delays, weather, or processing backlogs.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime frequently.
  • Ability to travel for extended periods with frequent overnight stays.
  • Ability to remain physically alert on any assigned shift.
  • Must successfully complete all required training and certifications and pass Company and Federal Client background investigations.
  • Proficiency with computers and department-specific software.
  • Bilingual in Spanish (verbal and written) preferred.
